The Sad Sea

© Matilda

This poem is dedicated to those who live and breathe by the sea, and yes, that's me. What will we all do without the sea? Matilda

I am sad for the sea
For the sea is me
The sea is we. I am sad for the sea
For the fish, for the turtles, for the urchins that be
The sea is me, not for debris
The sea is me, the sea is we
There is no more me, there is no more we
there is no more sea

I am sad for the sea, for the things that be
The sea is sad, sad is the sea

It is you that makes the sad sea, it is we
It’s our fault to blame
It’s the thoughtless, mindless money game
I am sad for the sea, I am sad for the we
I am sad for what the sea should be

I am so so sad for the sea

I grew up on the sea. I ate the sea, I played in the sea, I even dared the sea
I was me in the sea

I am sad for the sea
I am so sad for me, and even more sad for we.
