When I’m Not There

This poem is about betrayal. I had been betrayed by a very close friend when I wrote this. Even though I was hurt, I would never walk away when she needed me.

I’ve been thinking about the memories,
Of how we used to be,
If ever I felt hurt or scared,
I knew you’d be there for me.

If ever you really needed me,
I’d try my best to care,
But this time when you need me,
You’ll see that I’m not there.

If ever you wanted my opinion,
I’d try to make it fair,
But this time when you need me,
You’ll see that I’m not there.

We used to be the best of friends,
We were the perfect pair,
But this time when you need me,
You’ll see that I’m not there.

Our friendship has gone,
There was nothing left to spare,
But remember when you need me,
That I will always be there.
