Cicada Call

© Marie Olson

About the 17 year cycle of the cicada.

Cicada nosily calls a mate,
Seventeen years to keep a date,
Frolic about in the noon day sun,
Fades away when day is done,
Tiny critters complete their mission,
A mysterious cycle with submission,
To a power above unknown to all,
The pattern set to make the call.
